For the past 8 months, 24/7 I’ve had sex on the brain. Sex toys, to be specific! It’s been 8 months of ups and downs, very late nights and lots of new friends. I had a lot going on in my home life and the shop couldn’t entice me back. I lost my passion for it. So I knew what I had to do, and it was good for me to do so.
If any of my customers/followers happen to read this, thank you so much for everything!
In this post I’ll be explaining why I sold my business and what the future has in store for this mummy on a mission!
Running a business is hard, fact. Trying to market a shop that sells adult products and getting turned down due to the content at every opportunity, is hard. It is extremely disheartening and a few times I got into the mood of, ‘why am I even doing this?’ Any other sector would have been easier, marketing and promo wise. But I like a challenge!
I stayed up into the early hours most nights to make promo or set up all of my tweets for the week. I spent most of my days looking for new ways to advertise the shop and find more customers with no outcome. It got to the point that it wasn’t really enjoyable anymore. I was still making sales, but running the shop alone in such a tight community was extremely hard. It’s not until you’re in the Twitter world of sex toy companies and reviewers that you really realise how hard it is! Every one has their favourite go to shops, and it’s extremely hard to persuade them to try shopping elsewhere!
After my months of hard work, it did pay off. In the last few months I no longer had to market so much as I’d get site views and sales anyway. But I still wasn’t enjoying it. So after a long time of thinking about it, I found a buyer and sold my business. Telling my Twitter followers was a great send off as I got some lovely leaving messages and people telling me they’ll miss me. It was a nice way to end it all and made me feel much better! But now that chapter is over, I will shortly be starting a new one.
As A is growing up and lots of things are going on in our home life (all good things! More on them soon), I want to take it somewhat easier business wise. I already miss having my own business and customers to chat to and it’s not even been 24 hours! But I have a craft business in the making so hopefully after Christmas I’ll be fully underway and back to normal. I have also neglected my blog a bit, sorry! But I have lots of new posts coming soon, including my first review, which I’m really excited about.
I learnt a lot about being a small business owner in the past 8 months! From my experiences, I have a lot of posts in the pipeline to help both business owners and bloggers/reviewers. Subscribe to my blog to keep up to date!
It sounds super cheesy but it was my birthday yesterday, which was also the last day of my business. So from today onwards I want to be moving up and have an amazing year!
